Centennial
House, built on a St. Augustine land grant dating back to the 1790's, was originally constructed between 1899 and 1904. Lack of detailed records
cloud precise construction dates. This makes the Centennial House relatively new in comparison to surrounding St. Augustine, the nation's oldest city, founded in 1565. The house was built for J.D.
Oliveros, a St. Augustine councilman. In 1998 Centennial House received a major renovation and opened it's door to guests in January 1999.

Centennial House is several blocks from Flagler College, formerly the Ponce de Leon Hotel built in 1888. Walk in the footsteps of the once "rich and famous" as you enter the grand rotunda or visit the dining hall which highlights the artistic glass created by Louis Tiffany.
The enormous felines that guard the nearby Bridge of Lions will steer you back into St. Augustine's ancient past as well the Lightner Museum, the famed Fountain of Youth, the Castillo de San Marco ("the old fort"), and all the city's ornate churches that proudly showcase the artistic glass of Louis Tiffany.
Stoll by the busy waterfront of the Intracoastal Waterway and watch for dolphins among the many moored boats. Your tour of the city may also include the Spanish Quarter Village, the Oldest House, and other historic attractions. The
quaint shops and art galleries on St. George Street and the downtown restaurants are just a short walk from the inn.

With the ocean "just down the road", you can enjoy a vast array of water sports ranging from fishing to surfing to boating to climbing the steps of the St. Augustine Lighthouse to see everything from a bird's eye view. For those who like to walk the links, there are excellent golf courses nearby.
While you are here, you may also want to plan a day trip to the World Golf Hall of Fame or
Marineland, both a short drive from Centennial House.
